Join us at the Portugal Pavilion to sample our fine Portuguese cuisine, our wines and desserts while being entertained with Portuguese music and Portuguese folklore dance groups.


ENTERTAINMENT:

The Portuguese way of life is leisurely, warm, friendly and hospitable. Enjoy the long tradition of folklore dancing, our costumes are very colourful, our music is lively. Folk dancing is part of the cultural fabric of Portugal. These dances reflect the many and varied regions of Continental Portugal as well as Madeira and the Azores.

Whether it is the fandango, corridinho, vira or chamarita, the music demonstrates the soul and spirit of the Portuguese people. The costumes and music you will see and hear is both traditional and lively. It will have you dancing in your seats.

 


CUISINE:

The sea has proved to be the most defining characteristic of Portuguese cooking. savour the simplicity of a just-caught fish grilled or baked to perfection, shellfish plucked from our ocean or our famous ‘bacalhau’ , cod fish which can be served in over 365 different ways. If you are a meat lover, our nationwide specialty: ‘Galinha no Churassco’ Grilled Chicken done to perfection and topped off with the Portuguese sauce mild or hot depending on your taste.

When you have one of our dishes a nice glass of our Portuguese wine will go well with it. For dessert, make sure you try our famous ‘Pastel de nata’ known as a custard tart, and a ‘Galao / Bica’ cappuccino / espresso to finish off your meal.

Toonie Taste :   

Crisp and golden, this traditional Portuguese appetizer features tender pieces of sickleback fish lightly seasoned, dipped in a delicate batter and fried to perfection. The result is a beautifully airy, flower-like exterior that gives way to moist, flavorful fish inside. Served piping hot with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a side of your favourite dipping oil – whether a zesty garlic aioli or a simple extra olive oil with herbs. It’s a delightful start to any meal that celebrates the rich coastal flavours of Portugal.
